I’m having fun with 2 more xbox live arcade titles… I seem to be spending more time on the xbox after I cancelled my 7 year subscription π The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile This mono (except for blood splurts and falling coins) shaded 2D side scrolling hack and slash is a great challenge; with a variety of weapons and moves plus end of level monstrous bad guys to tick ever box…

The last time I stopped blogging for an extended period wasn’t because I had stopped playing games, but one single game, Skyrim, was taking all of my digital time. This time around it’s GTA V π Am I enjoying it as much as Skyrim? Maybe not, as it doesn’t have the personalisation, and specialisation… but then I haven’t taken it online yet! I’ve completed the main story, and am now…

No posts lately due to been away in Los Santos π I’m very near the end of the main story, so am driving / flying around enjoying the city while I still find it novel and interesting. 2 tips to help you guys along and squeeze out a little more enjoyment Buying properties for free You must have enough money to purchase the desired property to use this exploit/glitch. Go…
Here’re a summary of nice to know GTA V Tips and Tricks within the Los Santos World, that I’ve realised over the past few days. Melee (XBOX) trigger = attack while locked on, holding Left Trigger X dodge B Counter A sprint as usual stripper bars Great location to lose the cops… like you need an excuse to enter Clothes shops can also be used, although perusing garments isn’t quite…

OK few days from my last post, curious why? GTA V mofo’s! Is it great, the greatest yet… maybe so? How would I compare it? Look at the water! Ever since playing the first Halo, every great game can be compared by the water graphics and movement, and Pisswater is this good! I could tell stories of lap dances, hookers, flying trips & shootouts… but the scenery and specifically the…

Developers suggest performance differences are “significant and obvious” PS4 ‘noticeably faster’ than Xbox One, sources claim Console war will ‘reinvigorate’ flagging industry, says Sony boss Sony preparing against PS4 post-launch sell-out Japan PS4 to launch in 2014 Sony’s PlayStation 4 is significantly faster than the Xbox One, according to development sources speaking to Edge. Despite Microsoft’s effort to close the gap as much as possible before release, Edge claims that…

After the last generation launch I considered this same thought, and with the near launch of GTAV I think it’s cemented. Studios work out the best capabilities of the hardware, and tweak it with each patch and launch. So here in the pre-shadow of the release of the ‘4th gen’ consoles, we have the pinnacle of development with the current hardware. The XBOX One and PS4 may offer more polished…

Rockstar spent 100 days on “research trips” to LA: “Out and about, all night long with weird people, strange cops showing us around, a lot of first-hand research. We spoke to FBI agents that have been undercover, experts in the Mafia, street gangsters who know the slang β we even went to see a proper prison. These poor buggers in the middle of the salt flat desert, miles away. It…

I didn’t really get into Saints Row 3, although I enjoyed the previous 2 instalments… it came across as a little forced. And for this reason I hadn’t been following https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saints_Row_IV prior to release, as I always consider it just another sandpit city gangsta title, to fill the gap between GTA. Nevertheless, I’m having fun π The superpowers are a nice touch, as are the comic book style aliens. The…

I’m only on my second stage, but am enjoying been back with Sam, and the challenge. Sam is a deadly skilled foe, but he is still vulnerable, and not too overpowered. As ever the shadows are his main asset, and the stealth assassin hits are very satisfying. There is certainly a depth to the game, where the style and kit can be heavily modded. The Echelon 4 base is novel,…

After completing Far Cry 3 I’ve delved into my back catalogue (waiting for Splinter Cell this weekend, and ultimately GTA V). I’ve picked up Darkness 2 on the PS3, a wonderful cell shaded gem I got into on release… not sure what dragged me away the first time, without looking back in the blog history. I’m enjoying the plot, continued from the original Love how super powered the character feels,…

I posted last week how no-one does pre-launch like Rockstar, here’s more validation, truly huge hand painted murals in LA and NYC… I’m even tempted to pre-order, and I can never remember doing that for a game prior, I hate this seasons game drought. One sticking point is Xbox or PS3? Thinking Xbox for the multiplayer and Gamer Points π

Wow, who is not excited by this? The graphics look fantastic with the first person view signature white / red colour pallet, and Faith’s moves look more stunning and fluid than before. Although Mirror’s Edge 2 will be a first-person action adventure, it “will be a different Mirror’s Edge than you have seen before”, according to Patrick SΓΆderlund, executive vice president of the EA Games Label. And if this isn’t…

I’m never keen on this time of year, the dry spell between E3 and the pre Xmas push, where there are no new title releases π Thank the digital gods that Far Cry 3 has longevity, and Kerbal Space Program 0.21 update as landed September’s GTA5 release can’t come soon enough!

Have to wait for 6 months, but here’s the trailer. This has been milked by Capcom, and considering I might switch from xbox to Steam for this release… if it runs on Linux then it’s a no brainer π Sad that I’m more excited by the nerfs and power mods than I am by the new characters.

Between virtual Python classes I’m back on virtual Rook Island playing Far Cry 3, and having eye watering, non blinking fun. I’ve been introduced to an array of new weapons, and vehicles, from sniper rifles to flame throwers, and boats with gun turrets to the flimsy hang gliders. Even though I’ve put in 10+ hours, I have yet to open up half of the map. The option to just chill…
