Google’s new algorithm will make Chrome run much faster Chrome is about to load web pages a lot faster than you’ve experienced up until now. Thanks to a new compression algorithm called Brotli, which Google introduced last September, Chrome will be able to compress data up to 26 percent more than its existing compression engine, Zopfli, which is an impressive jump. Sounds cool, but will this allow for more Google…

With new technological advances making for an even more exciting and immersive experience, this is a fantastic example of the kind of content-rich factual entertainment that BBC Two excels at. Robot Wars returns to the BBC in 2016 – BBC Media Centre I’m quite stoked about the return of Robot Wars, although a pity Craig Charles probably won’t be hosting this season due to Red Dwarf commitments… pray they don’t…

Thanks to The Register; here’s The Edward Snowden guide to practical privacy If you’re just an average user concerned about your privacy Use Tor when browsing. You don’t have to use Tor all the time (it does slow things down considerably and some sites will also block Tor traffic). But if you are looking at or for something that you feel is sensitive, then either set up your browser to…

afk busy end 2015

11/01/2016

Time scarce, had time to spend quality time with boy, choice new job, learning guitar, as for games… GTAV festive snow and costumes were fun Dark Souls 2; still can’t find help for the same boss Bloodborne; waiting for help with Amygdala, my techniques are failing me Begun Battlefront Star Wars, Fallout 4 & Dishonoured Definitive edition Picked up Nexus 5x and Chromecast New Years resolution 2016: update blog more…

Star Wars Battlefront Cons: I’m no fan of EA, I detest the model of releasing games with partial content Pros: It’s Star Wars; X-wings vs Tie Fighters, Speeder Bike races through Endor forrests, and I’ve only played the tutorial 🙂 I hardly play online games, so this will make a more social change. The last time I played Star Wars Battlefront was on the PSP the best part of a…

Back to Bloodborne

13/11/2015

I’ve been having fun playing Dark Souls 2, progressing slowly, got to a point I couldn’t pass (caves spiders, then multiple dark cleric boss), so thought I’d take a break. So booted up Bloodborne, played around in the Dark Forest levelled up a couple of times, and ended up opting to have a look around the Gaol. Joy of joys, after several attempts & ringing the beckoning bell each time…

So after getting Elite:Dangerous to play well I’ve lost 3,500,000 credits, the last encounter in a war zone with a T9 of all ships! So I decided to cut my losses, and not in the manner of unplugging my ‘net connection, I took the hit, just time away to read up and contemplate 🙂 So I’ve now gone back to Dark Souls 2, and have the usual love hate thing…

After 6 months or so away from playing, I’m back in the Elite:Dangerous universem I thought I’d go back and visit space, see if much had changed. After spending 3 evening trying to establish and fix when my PC would randomly boot while running Win7. After checking everything from BIOS t, drivers, and the PCU, removing and refitting the memory seemed to fix the issue… for now. I then installed…

yubikey-neo + KeyPassX + KeyPassDroid + OwnCloud portable secure password vault Searching through F-Droid for yubico I came across a link to KeyPassDroid; I’d come across a password safe solution on the yubico site using KeyPass, but was shied away as it mentioned the premium version… I don’t mind paying for shit, although if I can solve the issue with free open source alternatives I’ll spend hours trying 🙂 So…

So in a spurt of geekdom the other night I changed all of my passwords to work on a combination of different passwords for each login together with one of 2 static passwords, and 2 factor authentication, that I’ve set up on my new yubikey-neo. Within 8 hours I had locked myself out of 2 Google accounts, a Reddit account, PayPal, and I’ve just gained access back to this blog…

I’ve just been playing with a yubikey I picked up a couple of weeks ago, and have gone a a binge of changing online passwords. Wonder how many I’ll have forgotten the setup to by dawn 🙁 On the upside have unlocked Quiet on MGSv, and enjoying the more relaxed powerplay style completing missions again to max out special troops

With the limited playtime I have I’ve been working my way through the MGSV: Phantom Pain missions; enjoying the challenge of each encounter and stoked as d-dog has just joined the crew 🙂 Thinking he might be more useful than the horse… I’ll cover my interest in the horse inclusion when I have more time. I’ve also been learning the Major And Minor Pentatonic Scales, I can feel the callous…
