I’ve been playing with Googles Fusion Tables, specifically the map function, & for a free service it’s quite impressive. Data can be uploaded in several ways, via traditional file types (txt, csv, xls), linked to from Google Docs, or simply pasted into a fusion table. Here’re a couple of examples that I’ve put together: a map of crop circles in the UK from 2009 data courtesy of The Guardian, data…
a personal Beatles revival with Disco
29/08/2012
I’m going through a personal Beatles revival, although when I say that, I’ve never been a fan, so to speak. Being part of Thatcher’s yoof The Beatles were always a background noise; we sang their songs at school, everyones Mum had had a crush on one of them a decade or so ago, Paul was still rocking, I can’t really remember John being shot, but there wasn’t 24 hr news…
Sleeping Dogs more Woo than Woo
26/08/2012
Hard Boiled is one of my all time favourites, Woo, Wong & Chow Yun-Fat together created a masterpiece. Stranglehold was fun, but Sleeping Dogs looks to be more undercover cop, Hong Kong, duel 9mm’s than its inspiration. An undercover cop, too deep in with the triad, Hong Kong based, open World title, was always going to be compared to Woo, so this post is probably already a cliche, but I…
HTML Table analysis
25/08/2012
This has to be one of the most interesting plugins for a web browser I’ve seen in a long time… perhaps since the advent of Flash! This fantastic plugin takes an HTML table, allows you to analyse the data, & save the results in an xls format. Mind blown! Excel is my first weapon of choice at work; I may need to source data via SQL, but reporting happens &…
f#cking spiders
12/08/2012
I’ve been interested in the concept of web bots & spiders for a while, finally found time to investigate top level. Here’s a brief bit of code showing Reddit front page images, will share as I have more
xbox titles in a fusion fashion
12/08/2012
I have a confession to make, I like data! I have qualifications for understanding it, I’m paid to play with it, & dammit I mess with it for fun. So while searching through google faq’s today for more detail on 2 step verification, I came across Fusion Tables. Here’s a link to a table I’ve put together of all Xbox titles, sourced from the wiki page I’ve found a cool…
INSTALLS: In last 30 days
30/05/2012
I like the idea of dynamic web content, as an analyst I love charts as a tool to describe trend in data. So here’re the subscriptions to my free Bill Hicks app It’s Just a Ride, over the last 30 days. I’m going to look into what data of interest I can source online, & see what charts I can create. Thinking google office, or whatever the aka is, will…
Thank you!
27/05/2012
An Android user as paid for my simple Bill Hicks app, when a free one is readily available 🙂 Thank you for helping to cover my costs! I play with technology solely for the fun & learning experience, never for the money… if that was the case I’d have quit long ago 🙂 Thanks again, & I appreciate anyone else donating for the non ad version, available here: Google Play:…
CC Designers Steal From Warhammer? – IGN
15/04/2012
It wasn’t just the tanks they stole, but the full concept of the game. Does no one remember Blizzards Warcraft? Humans vs Orcs collecting minerals, dark areas of the map… sound familiar? But this then was plagerism of Warhammer, wonder what Games Workshops cut was? ign cc-designers-steal-from-warhammer

Notch’s “secret”
03/04/2012
We all know of the Easter egg in gaming like the cake room in portal or the headless ghostin skyrim but they have all been found quickly. Notch-the creater of minecraft- says that there is a easter egg in minecraft. Not just that but it has been in their for over a year! What is it… A crafting recipe maybe herobrine. The thing is no-ones found out.
http://www.gamespot.com/6367586 Now this sounds like something to get excited about. I remember Elite as the true open ended adventure. Now add the modding patches available today, as in Minecraft + multiplayer servers & I can kiss goodbye to my none working, none sleeping hours.
ign – warface This sounds fun…Â but how many fps do we need? I keep revisiting MW3, as I’m boycotting EA. An original title would win my interest, could this be it? What other fps titles are you playing?

Top 5… retro games
12/02/2012
I requested a post from, my then, pre-teen nephew, about what games he was playing and what he enjoyed, here’s his eloquent reasoned response 🙂 Me and my friends have recently been noticing the change in gaming graphics, and I decided to collect my favourite retro games. 5. X-Com – OK there is not a great fan base for this game and it did die out quick but this game…
grab the greasemonkey
06/02/2012

I can’t believe it took me so long to find GreaseMonkey, from Greasepot: Greasemonkey is a user script manager. It is an extension for the Firefox web browser. So what does it do? It adds user created functionality to the web sites you use. Very easy to use: install the firefox plugin search userscripts.org click install The 1st script I tried deleted all of my 6 months posts on Reddit.…

not all drugs are good…
08/10/2011
some are fantastic! Long time no post, games & work taking up my time & we don’t talk of my newly found reddit affliction. The one game that has been taking up a copious amount of my gaming hours as been Square Enix’s beautiful celebration of Gibson’s prose, Deus Ex – Human Revolution. As a teenage roleplay junkie, who grew up spending my evenings mesmerised reading Cyberpunk source books &…
X-Butt 360
10/08/2011
I’ve been a little lapse adding posts lately, working down country (PSP time) & gratuitous gaming have kept me away. When I set up this blog, I also built a few twitter feeds, to keep me up to date with what’s happening in the geek World. Each of these then filters into #GamerGeekNews. So while setting up #XboxGeekNews, I searched Google for an image to use as an avatar… key…
