Child of Light

27/07/2014

Booted Child of Light(wonder why critics rateit 82% on xbox one, and 74% on 360?), on xbox live, what a juxta to the 2 last arcade games I tried! I can recognise the shared engine with Valiant Hearts, although the character movement is much more fluid… plus the right thumb stick controlled willow-the-wisp like firefly entity is a wonderful addition, like a playable Navi 🙂 The text dialogue is beautiful,…

So to continue today’s xbox live endeavour, I’ve chosen 2, 2D platform games to jump about with, Abyss Odysey, and Blood of the Werewolf. 1st impressions? Due to the clumsy controls I doubt I’ll be playing Abyss Odysey again; I’ve too many games to play to leave out the ones with non intuative shnky controls. Blood of the Werewolf, at first seems clunky, the levels are simple jump and shoot……

The coolest original content on YouTube, ever: Alpha – Street Fighter Assassin’s Fist (link updated 20200731) As a fan of the game series, and one who appreciates martial arts, this rocks! 12 episodes of live action Street Fighter 🙂 Written and directed by Joey Ansah (who also plays the role of Akuma), Assassin’s Fist focuses on the early days of Street Fighter mainstays Ryu and Ken. Though perhaps not intentional,…

Started playing the Ubisoft xbox live version of Valiant Hearts: The Great War. I’m enjoying the easy pace, simple puzzles and challenges, and brief history of The Great War. From the wiki Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a puzzle adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and published by Ubisoft. The game is inspired by letters written during the Great War and has four characters on the battlefield help…

So I’m asking myself this question: Is what is on a purchased disc your own? I recently booted up Street Fighter x Tekken, while working through my fighting games, and promptly remembered that half the characters are missing. Don’t get me wrong, they’re there on the roster… just not playable! Usually this is a eh oh moment… but in this instant I couldn’t play Blanka! WTF is a Street Fighter…

Started playing the Lego Movie Xbox 360 game, and it didn’t dissappoint 🙂 It follows the plot of the film scenes, and is heaps of fun. Will I finish it? Perhaps not. I’ve not enjoyed a Lego title to completion, after the Star Wars release… but stranger things happen [Rating: 3]

Eek! received an email that Google couldn’t get to my robot.txt file, checked the WordPress part of the site, to find the error: Error Establishing a Database Connection. I was preparing to hunker down for the afternoon to find a solution, but the first result from DuckDuckGo pretty much solved it for me 🙂 From Beginner’s guide to WordPress: How to Fix the Error Establishing a Database Connection in WordPress…

Finally I have the Piratebox v1.0 working on the TP-Link 3020 🙂 I had tried redownloading the install_piratebox.zip file, and the 3020 firmware, and running through the step by step instructions with no luck 🙁 I sat like a doting puppy watching the flashing green lights, leaving the box for some times up to 45 mins! Once I dug into the log file though, I could see where the install…

xbox usb keyboard

12/07/2014

I find it hard to believe that I have never tried this before! I find enterring lengthy text messages via joystick into XBOX LIve timely. Today I plugged in a keyboard I have been using with a Raspberry Pi into the XBOX to see if it would work. Wonders of technology, keyboard typing without the need for drivers! Not sure of how long the nolvelty will last before I revert…

I recieved a Sanwa octaganol plate for my my Madcatz Fightstick Pro today, from an Ebay purchase. Not sure of how it will change my Street Fighter game play, but I am keen to give it a try 🙂 One issue, I can’t get the back plate off of the joystick to fit it 🙂

A year of AWS

10/07/2014

I can’t believe it’s a year from when I first started playing with Amazon’s free hosting deal. It probably makes sense to use the service for a blog like this, think it would probably be cheaper… but what I’m paying for is the support when it all goes Pete Tong What really impressed me was how easy it is to cancel a setup, heaps easier than setting one up! Simply…

CyanogenMod Nexus 4

04/07/2014

For the first time on the Nexus 4, I’ve installed a Custom ROM, and to date this was my largest fail yet. I didn’t brick the device, although the password for the encryption I’d set up was continually rejected 🙁 I had to wipe the device completely, to remove drive encryption, and start Cyanogen 10.2.1, the last stable build based on Android 4.3.1, which is apparently more secure than later…

Good, bad, and great news 🙂 Good news; my Onion Raspberry Pi kit arrived from Adafruit Bad news; I fried the board plugging in the USB connectors wrong in error Great news; I picked up another Pi, I’ve installed tor successfully, and can wirelessly access the Onion network. thttpd is installed, now working on building an Onion server 🙂 Here’s a great guide I used to install thttpd on the…

Shit, I’ve just purchased the last Ultra iteration… but I’m still excited by the prospect of Street Fighter V coming to PS4 and Xbone 🙂 Excerpt from EventHubs, info courtesy of sponichi Updated: Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono addressed Sports Nippon’s report today and said that the “pay to win model is not accurate and isn’t something we’re planning for. “Sorry for the confusion! We’re still in early planning stages and will…
