Cyanogenmod – Make Mako your own! destructions for installing Cyanogenmod onto the Nexus4 Cyanogenmod was my preferred ROM for my Nexus 1, after it was no longer supported for updates. Now I’m considering switching back to it, on my N4, for different reasons… the main one to break away from Google’s tracking. The down side is that I’m hooked on Google Apps 🙁 So here’s a list of the benefits…

Great show, although think mark’s finding his format. Then at 12 minutes comes the precursor to Ali G, with no other than the much loved George Galloway, who would have thought that he’d still be in politics? I’m not a happy buuny!

Back in ’99 Mark Thomas aired this fantastic episode showing how the US were listening (project Echelon) to the UK and Europe ~2,000 employees US base, Menwith Hill, in North Yorkshire, listening to 100k phone lines at one time! 14 years later we have a measure on that everything digital is tracked… would I have changed my web behaviour back them, if I know what I know now? Nah! So…
http://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews/comments/1kxsd1/it_appears_that_the_uk_government_isintentionally/ Surprised at the independent for publishing leaked documents! The Guardian has always been my main news source, reading the Independent usually on a weekend after I’ve already made my way through the Guardian… think this news will keep me away, contemplating removing the rss feed from the site

After completing Far Cry 3 I’ve delved into my back catalogue (waiting for Splinter Cell this weekend, and ultimately GTA V). I’ve picked up Darkness 2 on the PS3, a wonderful cell shaded gem I got into on release… not sure what dragged me away the first time, without looking back in the blog history. I’m enjoying the plot, continued from the original Love how super powered the character feels,…

While on my search for anonymous and meta free email, I cam across this article at The Daily Dot. It seems like Tor Mail could have been what I was looking for, even though it was based in the dark web. It’s now been closed down, apparently due to bad people carrying out sick nefarious activities that I wouldn’t want to be associated with… or the Feds made up lies…

Far Cry 3 [rating: 4] This game had everything in moderation, and did it well Maybe the moderation was what made it less than perfect, but if overkilled it wouldn’t have been as fun it is to play And I’ll be honest, I opted for the dark side ending. The mates were whiny, and after all the killing, why get moral http://youtu.be/A2xycweeQNM I really enjoyed this adventure, so much better…

Taken direct from Startpage – prism program exposed If you haven’t already ditched google, and set startpage as your default search engine, you really should consider it. I think this is the end of an era of the free web… or maybe 7 years ago was, according to below. Those that choose to, will find new ways to surf anonymously. For others their surfing will be observed like their sky.…

Here’s A Tool To See What Your Email Metadata Reveals About You Earlier this week, Mike Masnick of Techdirt complained that anyone who dismisses the NSA’s collection of metadata around people’s phone calls and emails (as revealed in the Snowden Leaks) “because it’s ‘just metadata’ doesn’t know what metadata is.” The argument is that you can learn a lot about who a person associates with and what they might talk…

Silent Circle on secure electronic communications: ‘You may wish to avoid email altogether…’ When American firm Silent Circle shut down its Silent Mail encrypted-email service earlier this month, it claimed that “e-mail as we know it today is fundamentally broken from a privacy perspective”. Now the company has been elaborating on the claim in response to questions about why it couldn’t just use an asymmetric key cryptography plug-in for email…

Here’s a list of firefox (you are using firefox arn’t you?) plugins, that were shared on Reddit, to help keep your browsing more secure and anonymous. I already used a few of them, but in this day and age you can’t be too careful 😉 Adblock (with the privacy easylist added) Annoyed by adverts? Troubled by tracking? Bothered by banners? Install Adblock Plus now to regain control of the internet…

I haven’t worn a watch for years, working at a keyboard it seemed to get in the way, then the mobile, and in turn smart phone came along… what need do I have for a watch? Saying that I’ve fancied a pocket watch for some time, think that was inspired in my early teen years from the Pop Swatch I had. Sony already have their SmartWatch(2) on the market, together…
OK I’m intrigued, here’s the idea User>>Lahana VPN>>Tor>>Website, thanks to Hacker 10 Lahana is a set of scripts that can quickly create a VPN on Amazon EC2 cloud servers using Linux instances and tunnel everything through the Tor proxy network. And here’s a Lahana link. Off to play, will put together a guide if I can get this to work Links r/netsec

I posted last week how no-one does pre-launch like Rockstar, here’s more validation, truly huge hand painted murals in LA and NYC… I’m even tempted to pre-order, and I can never remember doing that for a game prior, I hate this seasons game drought. One sticking point is Xbox or PS3? Thinking Xbox for the multiplayer and Gamer Points 🙂

This is big news currently in NZ, the National Government are planning on passing the GCSB bill (Government Communications Security Bureau and Related Legislation Amendment Bill), that will give the GCSB the privilege to spy on domestic Kiwis. Below is the current NZ PM’s argument why this should pass. It’s absolute rubbish, and a step closer to a monitored police state The New Zealand Prime Minister John Key is trying…
