Don’t know if you noticed but I like games 😉 One other ability I’ve been blessed with is a short attention span and to be guaranteed to be wow’d by the next pastime I’ve taken up… this weeks fascination in certainly Ingress. Taking advantage of the daylight saving adjustment and dragging my usually lethargic arse out of bed, to place down some resonators at a local Anglican, dual portal, Church. Puling…

[rating:3] I’ve been playing Bioshock Infinite on the PS3 over the past couple of days. A quality title, quick summary: Pro’s Having fun Elizabeth & the plot are quite engaging, well presented steam punk style, with good graphics & frame rate huge open levels Cons the battles are a bit same same an average AI side missions, but still linear I can still see myself playing through it to completion…

[rating:4] A kindly gent passed on to me an Ingress invite last night 🙂 I’m really stoked about it, and have had fun today hacking a few portals. I still think Ingress is one big fact finding tool for Google, although I’m just a tiny fish in a global pond, I’m still a little cautious… crazy eh? Ingress is an augmented reality massively multiplayer online video game created by NianticLabs@Google,…

[rating:3] I have early memories of dropping 10p bits, the size of wagon wheels into old arcade machines as a child. before the days of Outrun or Afterburner, this was the dogs bollocks… although back then I doubt I knew what bollocks were & I’m sure I wasn’t au fe with The Sex Pistols. So today I found a PS3 remake of this nostalgic beauty. I doubted it would hold…

[rating:3] I know I hadn’t always found R-Type as difficult as the Delta experience, & today I came across the predecessors R-Types (both 1 and 2!) So you can load in heaps of credits & then start the game, I like the arcade touch. The first thing that hit me was the siren noise, swear I’ve heard exactly the same on several phones at work 🙂 The game isn’t simple,…

Memory fading? I read a cool blog entry by Gerard Campbell: Game Junkie this week: Are games harder or is it just me? The focus of it being that he had to downscale the difficulty from normal to easy to complete the latest Bioshock instalment. I tried to procure a copy of the said game today, with no luck; I came back with another sniper shooter… but that’s a different…

[rating:4] Article at SRK tells how over the next month Capcom are requesting suggestions from the SF gaming community, on changes they can make to characters and game play on the next game update. I hope they’re giving this one away free & we son’t have to shell out for a 4th revision of this SF incarnation! But the discussion at SRK is on more characters; so what can we…

[rating:3.5] The title that’s taking up the bulk of my play time this weekend is quite a novelty, Solar 2. I’d never heard of the prequel, and only stumbled across this game by accident. I wish I had it last week for beach time. This game is based on physics, first you begin as a lump of rock floating in space, an asteroid. By slamming into surrounding rocks your rock…

I’ve been on a (digital) desert island for a week, wi-fi was available, but I opted out. I had a cache of apps to play with, my SO had her Kindle Paper White, but I went old school, reading a tome she gifted me for chrimbo; Ben Elton’s, Two Brothers As a long time reader & fan of Elton, this was a treat. The signature style, as in a Tarantino…

Keep Reader

22/03/2013

Google ditch Reader & give us Keep! More I think about it, the more I think that Reader was another fact finding exercise. On a happier note, I finished Portal 2 today. A masterpiece, and a great example that games don’t need to be epic length.

I’ve discovered Stackexchange gaming arquade, while searching for an Ingress invite… leaving a link here as I think I’ll be going back 🙂 Currently downloading an update for Portal 2, can’t believe I’ve left it so long to play as I really enjoyed the original. Update: wow up to chapter 6, can’t believe the game as been out for so long & I’ve managed to avoid spoilers 🙂 The humour…

Not sure if Ingress is a data sourcing mechanism, or simply an augmented reality title waiting to happen? Whatever, I sent in my application for the beta today & it’s on Play Cool article describing it here: cnet On my smartphone, I was capturing portals and linking them to far-flung places; in the real world, I was a guy standing on a corner dodging people heading back to the office…

At the arse end of the 90’s, before we had streaming tunes, certainly videos over the interwebs, this video was circulated on a PS1 magazine demo disk. On a 486, I was running with speeds of 48 kbps, if I was lucky, paying AOL by the minute, on top of the phone charges. I’d just been introduced to Gnapster – the fore runner of torrents. & a mate was selling…

Insightful article fron the Guardina: Google Reader RSS feed aggregator to be retired News that service will be taken down sparks online petitions and protest site & on the back of this I’ve been having a look what my host gives me, in the way of RSS tools. I’ve been playing briefly with Simple Pie, here’s my most used feed from the Guardian Will you miss Google Reader? Guardian poll…
