I’ve not been using the processing power of my 8 core PC, so decided to see what it could do this afternoon. I’ve installed VirtualBox direct from Synaptic Manager, and have created Virtual boxes for Debian and Windows 7. Both are currently installing, and I have not seen so much activity across all cores before. Having Windows as a VM will save me heaps of time and frustration, as I…

Back in the first age of xbox, long before 360, I was promised benefit from a payment subscription to an on-line service. ~10 years on, after the great introduction with Rainbow Six, Crimsen Skies, Project Gotham Racing, what have they given me for my money? Sweet fuck all! For me the early xbox days were wonderful, the community was friendly, players were stoked for the opportunity to play console games…

Could Faith and Mirror’s Edge 2 be with us in the near future? Word on the web is that details have been spotted on the German Amazon site! Will this be one of the catalysts to me picking up an Xbox One? Kotaku It is general knowledge in the Stockholm dev scene that Mirror’s Edge 2 is in production at DICE eurogamer.net/articles/2012-… — Ben Cousins (@BenjaminCousins) November 21, 2012
[Rating:0] – I can’t think of anything redeemable I wrote a post recently that I should review poor games from time to time, and this weekend is certainly it. Fast and Furious Showdown is perhaps the worst game I’ve played on a 3rd generation console. I do like driving games, and have even been known to enjoy a Fast and Furious film. I would not say that I am a…

2 new games to try this week, from 2 different genres: Fast and Furious Showdown Only one rating on Metacritic, 25 points by IGN This could be the worst game ever, looking forward to it 🙂 Resident Evil Revelations Circa 80% Metacritc score. This might be the game to get me through the wet weekend I have not played any driving games after my PS3 hard drive was corrupted and formatted, I…
– Xbox One engineer – Gameplanet New Zealand I don’t know what to think about this. The console will be on the market for 5+ years, so you would think that it would be future proofed? But then I guess it’s about an economy of scale, saving a few hundred bucks off the build cost allows MS to sell new boxes for the same price as current models, give or…

For a year or so, I’ve been using a very useful and effective GreaseMonkey script, which deletes all of my Reddit posts. Userscripts: Delete All Comments – it also deletes posts. Together with the Reddit Enhancement Suite option of auto scroll, clearing my history is achieved in a single click. All good, but I came across a post on Reddit, by one of the mods, stating that deleted posts could…

I always fancy playing a game that someone has borrowed 🙂 eh oh, back to finish Tomb raider

I’ve been looking through the games I’ve mentioned here, and there are not that many that I would say don’t play… except maybe for Journey, but others from what I’ve read on Metacritic would hold this opinion as sacrilegious. I’m going to try and find a game I can not enjoy & criticise… remembered I wasn’t that keen on Fifa 13 either, but I think that is football and sports…

I’ve always been a gamer before consoles and PC’s could fill this gap, and today I’ve been like a child in a sweetshop, as I’ve found this wonderful repository ebookbrowse Here there are links to role play books that I’ve long since stored or given away. In particular MERP, or to you none geeks, Middle Earth Role Play. BTW, from the MERP book cover, this is what I thought the…

[Rating:3.5] I’ve picked up Metro – Last Light today on the PS3 I think I started a PC version a year ago??? I’ll have to look it up, remember not been too impressed. Although that could have been due to the lack of joypad 🙂 (Here it is Metr0 2033) It has decent ratings on Metacritic (82%), but then again so does every newly released title… off to play! 1st…

I’m so stoked Disney made this! [Rating:4.2] – It could have been longer and explored more ideas, other than that perfect http://youtu.be/1dIznsAdTOE

At the end of the 80’s, as a teenager RPG’s had just started to be released on consoles… or more importantly for me, on the ones I owned. I’d been reading the Fighting Fantasy books of Stephen Jackson and Ian Livingston from when they were first available, now I had the opportunity to role play without a dice, pencil, and eraser! The titles that are most prominent in my memory:…

Last Saturday the sites twitter feed was suspended, I’m quite gutted about this, as it was my personal update of what was happening in the World regarding the topics I enjoy reading about, i.e. games and techno toys. So as this option has disappeared for now, I’ve been more reliant on the RSS news feeds on the top tab. I’ve played with dumping the content into posts on the site,…

[Rating:5] Ingress Intel Total Conversion This app has been installed on my phone and tablet for the past couple of weeks, and it’s chewing up bandwidth. I have been opening it more often than Gmail! It’s fantastic to see what has changed in the ‘hood overnight, and perfect for planning the most AP effective route for my lunch time migration between portals. This is truly an amazing feat of programming,…

Samsung hit speeds of 1Gbps in testing, wow! But what are we going to be moving that will be so large? I had comparable speeds to what I use now 7 years ago, on broadband, but I guess streaming had improved. Holograms by 2020 perhaps?
