I’ve found this fantastic video (bonus that the sound track used sounds like Kid Koala), together with the code… but it’s for Windows 🙁 Projects like this sometimes tempt me back to the darkside. Looking on through the list of projects I found another that I would love to give a try: Keyboard Anywhere I started out putting the project together, although disappointingly I ran into a wall trying to…

After some playing about today with this guide from developKinect.com, I got the the app to work 🙂 I was missing libusb-1.0 on my installation! apt-get install libusb-1.0 later and it’s all go. The app behaves ok, pity I can’t click with it, Off to find what I can do more with it now 🙂 w00t I’ve got openkinect.org working 🙂
Since I last updated my Ubuntu ATI graphics driver the mouse pointer in Ubuntu Unity and Gnome has been missing. I could still click on objects, and mouseovers would show, just no pointer! This hasn’t been too bad, as I’ve taken the opportunity to get familiar with XFCE.. but I sometimes missed the shine of Unity and Gnome. Today my GoogleFu paid dividends and I found this solution, thanks to…

As much as I love the functionality of the xbox 360 kinnect, and there have been some cool games, I don’t use it too often. So I got thinking about what would be an effective use for this sophisticated bit of kit. My first thought was as an alternative cursor controller. And being the 21st century, and having google available at my fingertips, I found that someone had done the…

After reading this post on Reddit about the unboxing of a Steam Machine, I’m very eager to see how well my own Linux machine will handle the Steam OS. All boxes below ticked, except for the NVIDIA graphics card. I’m hoping that the Steam OS will be the catalyst to get AMD drivers sorted for Linux… we can all dream 😉 I wonder how much the controllers will then cost?…

This weekend I’ve started playing FF-Xiii-2, after grinding through the first one I was a little reluctant to begin the sequel. The graphics are more easy on the eyes than ever, and I love the lullaby like theme. Watched the ‘Begginer’s Primer’, it brought back fond memories, and I swear I had something in my eye 😉 The quick time events work well, and the plot seems more love story…

After a week of evenings spending time trying to get my Pirate Box project working, on a TL-MR3020 I’d acquired. I finally got to test it this weekend in public. Following David Darts guide, I couldn’t get Pirate Box to install on the USB. Initially I wasn’t using a 2.0 stick, but even when I switched to one PB wouldn’t install fully. So brave me tried a different approach 😉…

Unitag Cool site to generate arty QR codes Although it’s in French I had no problem creating a couple of codes, one for my home wi-fi network, and the one below for the site 🙂 Think I might see if this can be my new online icon!

I’ve been enjoying the pirate life via Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag. Although not following the narrative plot, but by capturing bounty from anything else that dare invade my naval region. Sharks bleed out, as I harpoon them through the tropical blue waters, and various sized ships are scuttled for their bounty and crew. The FMV’s after each event are getting repetitive, not sure why this brings back old school memories…

There’s a script, actors willing to perform, sans Rufus 🙁 Hope a way can be found to make it happen. I’ve loved Bill and Ted since my teens, scary to think it’s so long ago, I would really like to say a third installment, closure 😉 “It’s basically that Bill and Ted haven’t been able to create that song that’s supposed to change the world and what that’s done to…

An hour into LEGO Marvel Super Heroes [Metacritic 80%] and I can’t understand the great ratings. Yeah the Hulk transformations are cool, but the repeat battle animations aint I’m not a fan of Iron Man films, but the game pulls off the essence of Robert Downey Jr. The humour is there; “Dr Doom’s, doom ray of doom!” The graphics are nice et al, it’s just that the game doesn’t flow…

This weekend I’ve tried a theme of style over budget… not meaning I’ve paid more for games [they were all arcade titles], just that the creators didn’t have the budget of the NSA 🙂 I’ll create a write up when I can be arsed 😉
