An online friend mentioned OpenSuse this week, a distro that I have heard of, but not yet played with. So what a great geek treat, to have 2 new OS’s to get the grips of in one week π I’ve downloaded the 4.7GB iso and installed it via Virtual Box, opting for the KDE ‘Plasma Desktop’ over Gnome 3.1 It’s early days, I’m still updating the software, although already installed…
Two words, Dreamcast and beta, that I haven’t heard used together before! Time to dust off my Dreamcast, although I think the challenge will be funding a TV that it will play on π ToeJam & Earl 3 beta brings funk to the Dreamcast 12 years too late

Scientists tell us their favourite jokes – The Guardian My favourite: An interviewer approaches a variety of scientists, and asks them: “Is it true that all odd numbers are prime?” The mathematician rejects the conjecture. “One is prime, three is prime, five is prime, seven is prime, but nine is not. The conjecture is false.” The physicist is less certain. “One is prime, three is prime, five is prime, seven…

Fedora 20 released at the start of this month, so I thought I’d give it a try via Virtual Box, and I liked it. I’m a fan of Gnome, so the GUI was a pleasure to use, although I now know Xfce can be used, and I’ve warmed to it over the last few months. Issues were Virtual Box related and not Fedora, e.g as always getting a wide-screen view,…

Make sure the power switch on…

If The Cave was too blase, The Bridge was just too out there. I love the concept, this was just too far reaching for my none sober brain π I will come back to it… although not sure when π

Bored of the festivities and Queens speech, I have started playing The Cave on xbox live. Entertaining puzzles, pleasant risk free platforming, tongue in cheek humour… the perfect entertainment after a day of sumptuous consumption

I’m not sure where this space was embedded, and neither are the posters at xkcd forums, although there are some cute ideas. Although quite ironic that I found there non linked space while they were discussing it being less popular π One of the posts there toolk me back to my first infatuation with the web, alt.fan.pratchett and the now resurrected Spooky’s Unexplained Mysteries and X-Files Chat Room

I’ve found this fantastic video (bonus that the sound track used sounds like Kid Koala), together with the code… but it’s for Windows π Projects like this sometimes tempt me back to the darkside. Looking on through the list of projects I found another that I would love to give a try: Keyboard Anywhere I started out putting the project together, although disappointingly I ran into a wall trying to…

The app behaves ok, pity I can’t click with it, Off to find what I can do more with it now π w00t I’ve got openkinect.org working π
Since I last updated my Ubuntu ATI graphics driver the mouse pointer in Ubuntu Unity and Gnome has been missing. I could still click on objects, and mouseovers would show, just no pointer! This hasn’t been too bad, as I’ve taken the opportunity to get familiar with XFCE.. but I sometimes missed the shine of Unity and Gnome. Today my GoogleFu paid dividends and I found this solution, thanks to…

As much as I love the functionality of the xbox 360 kinnect, and there have been some cool games, I don’t use it too often. So I got thinking about what would be an effective use for this sophisticated bit of kit. My first thought was as an alternative cursor controller. And being the 21st century, and having google available at my fingertips, I found that someone had done the…
