My long serving Nexus 5X suffered the impact of a HotWheels car crashing down onto it fingerprint scanner, knocking it unresponsive πŸ™ This was just the motivation I needed to pick up a new phone, and I’ve had my eye on the OnePlus 6T since it’s recent release πŸ™‚ I opted for the 128 GB model, as that’s more than I will need in the near future… and one of…

In my quest to get sonic-pi to run on Linux, and also free up a port on my router, I’ve been trying to login to view Raspberry Pi Desktop from Ubuntu… as usual with any Linux endeavor, with limited success; but think that’s the attraction: a puzzle to solve, with a solution out there… I’ve just gotta find it πŸ™‚ I had installed tightvncserver on the Raspberry Pi, and remmina…

Linux generated techno beats I came across a self published album on Amazon from someone I follow on Twitter of 8 bit notes, and this inspired me to put together a bit of simple techno πŸ™‚ There’s alse another passionate techy on Twitter who hosts a site full of synth and moog samples; so my plan is to get a music editor working and then add in some funky sounds.…

I updated Anaconda last night… but today it wouldn’t open. Tried to update it with no luck, so tried a clean install with zero success. After scratching my head for a while I edited .bashrc as the alias was entered twice, when I had a brain wave! running alias from the terminal refreshes the aliases and now anaconda-navigator opens πŸ™‚

The place is awesome now, although still a few more things we would like to update, but that can be done over time. We have fibre! 900 MB download speed, this has changed my…

As one PS4 AAA title ends with a Western sunset, another with an eclipsed sun In the past couple of weeks I’ve finished the latest AAA title in my collection: Red Dead Redemption 2; and today one that I never thought I’d complete: Dark Souls 3 Both were fun, amazing artistic achievements, but so different. I probably put in as many hours on both games, one I started in November…

Finally Red Dead Redemption 2 Online has launched on the PS4, and I’m in to it, even though I’m only 66% through the Story mode. One mission in, 4 player game, 2 went rogue from the start… reminiscent of GTAV Online, hope I can find a posse Just played a couple of multiplayer vs games… it’s chaos much like GTAV; not sure this game mode is for me, but let’s…

Red Dead Redemption 2 on the PS4 has been taking up nearly all of my game time, with brief breaks of Overwatch to qualify for season 13. I received heads up this morning from a friendly Twitter user (@adrianhungate) that my site was down and they were generously offering help to restore. Rebooting the Ubuntu VPS brought it back on-line; but why did it occur? My Duck Duck Fu turned up this useful, if not a little dated gem: Error establishing a database connection (WordPress) grep xmlrpc /var/log/apache2/access.log This showed evidence of several brute-force amplification attacks, which…
