Ubuntu AMD Radeon 7850 driver
10/30/2013
I messed up trying to get my Radeon HD 7850 graphics card beyond a ‘standard’ set-up while on Ubuntu
When Win7 is loaded this machine flies, lately in Ubuntu my Kerbals are in bullet time 🙂
lspci -nn | grep VGA
tells me I’m using: Pitcairn PRO [Radeon HD 7850] [1002:6819]
So there’s no full 3D driver… yet 🙁
This guide from The Unofficial AMD Linux Community helped save my arse
/usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p
Produces all green yes’s so looks like things are fixed
I’ve a funny feeling I’ve been here before
Looking forward to official support, although I have a fear that by the time it arrives I’ll have changed my card for a nvidia 🙂
