So many quality games

22/11/2014

I love this time of year for the great releases, although I have no time to play all, let alone review them 🙂

Since COD: Advanced Warfare here’s what has been running on my machines:

PES 15
Pro Evolution Soccer 2015
I had romantic memories of when PES6 was by far the best football game on the XBOX.
This crown is now well beyond Konomai’s reach, sitting snuggly on EA’s FIFA mullet.
If you’re going to buy one footy game this year, ensure it’s FIFA 15

Far Cry 4
Far Cry 4
It’s a remake of Far Cry 3, but instead of the island paradise, you’re in a mountain paradise; Kyrat.

The weapons, physics, et al are the same… except this time you get to ride on elephants and gyrocopters 🙂

I love the open World aspect, how you can just hang out in Kyrat, choosing what tasks, if any, to do next. I expect I’ll follow a similar path to FC3 by opening up most of the map before continuing with the story… but there’s no

Assassin's Creed: Rogue
Assassin’s Creed: Rogue
Screw the dodgy accents, WTF is everyone celtic in the recent AC titles… then again why did everyone speak English in the original based in Italy 😉

This seems like a more polished version of the pirate installant, however the combat and nautical controls seem a little more robust.

There is one important way that this assassin is different though; you now play a member of the Templar Order, hunting down assassins 🙂

I haven’t had the patience to finish the last few AC games, and I don’t think this one will interest me enough… perhaps I should stop messing about with maxing out my character and ship, and concentrate on the main plot line? 🙂

Dragon Age: Inquisition
Dragon Age: Inquisition
I was in 2 minds of picking up Dragon Age, I wasn’t a big fan of the 2nd in the series, and there have been complaints about the graphics for the 360 and PS3 versions, however this Reddit post summarises many reviews positive aspects, so I’ve decided to give it a try.

I miss my time in Skyrim, still occasionally calling back, but it’s not the same now the area is fully explored, and all plots revealed… let’s see if this offering from BioWare

Looking forward to hunting dragons 🙂

Madden NFL 15
Madden NFL 15
I first started playing Madden games decades ago on Sega’s MegaDrive, back when EA made cool large cartridges that allowed for save games, and there was a 9 in the title 😉

Back then EA were the cool devs, not the behemoth studio knocking out rebranded sports games each year. The time I spent playing Madden educated me in the foreign rules of the game, enough to understand what was happening on the late Sunday night games that were broadcast.

So every now and again I feel tempted to reignite that old romance and play some virtual grid iron… although not sure why I’ve picked up this title while I have a decent pile of games to work through. Let’s see if I should have left that romance behind me 🙂
